I've published 1,300 videos on YouTube

And here’s what I learned...

Throughout my career, I’ve published over 1,300+ videos on YouTube.

And you know what the hardest part is? Consistently coming up with the right idea. It’s easy to think, Oh, I need to film this perfectly, I need to plan the right look. But the truth is, if the idea isn’t strong, nothing else will save it.

So, let me share what my YouTube content creation process looks like:

When I first started my channel, my process was all over the place. I’d film a video first, then realize I didn’t have a title or thumbnail ready. Later, I completely changed my approach to make things easier and more efficient.

Step 1: Brainstorming & Research

The first step is always idea generation. Sometimes, inspiration comes naturally from everyday life - when I’m in a good mood, ideas just flow. But let’s be real - I’m not always in a great mood, and I still need to post consistently. That’s where research comes in.

I check what my competitors are doing and what’s trending on YouTube. And to make this process easier, I rely on a tool I highly recommend - especially for beginner YouTubers - Spotter Studios. I’ve connected it to my channel and marked creators whose content I like. It helps me generate ideas quickly and stay consistent.

Here’s how Spotter generates ideas for me

How Spotter helps me find viral ideas

Another amazing feature is identifying outliers - videos that perform way above average on similar channels. This is actually how we come up with most of our ideas for the Lingua Marina channel.

We analyze the community, look at related channels, see who's doing what in language learning and cultural studies, and identify their outliers. Spotter makes this process super easy.

I usually set it to 5x the average views and only consider refilming ideas that have gotten at least 1 million views.

This shows how many more views the outlier video received compared to the average

Step 2: Title & Thumbnail

Once I have the idea, I move on to the title and thumbnail - since they are tightly linked to the concept.

I always prepare 2-3 title variations so I can test them after the video is published.
For thumbnails, Spotter makes the process super easy. It generates AI mockups, so I don’t have to explain my idea in detail. I just send my designer a mockup - “Hey, make me holding this book!” - and they get it instantly. Simple and fast!

Step 3: Thumbnail Execution

I keep a folder of photos of me with different emotions, so I don’t have to take new pictures for every video. But every thumbnail has a different concept.

Spotter makes the process even smoother by creating thumbnail mockups - I simply send them to my editor, and they recreate the final version using my photos.

And that’s it! Step by step, this is how I create my YouTube videos.

Want to level up your YouTube ideas?

Right now, Spotter is running a cool initiative - if you add 10 video ideas to your Idea Bank and submit your best one, top creators will review it. If they love it, you might even get invited to LA for the Spotter Studio Idea Summit to refine and collaborate in person.

No right or wrong ideas, just a chance to experiment, get feedback, and see what clicks. And it’s completely free to enter.

Could be a cool way to spark new ideas for your content!
